in fog-prone area
west sea / east sea / jeju
Most of the fog generated in the west sea / east sea/ jeju area is advection fog. This occurs most frequently in summer, and because the southwest wind is strong in summer, the advection fog caused by the southwest wind develops better.
Ulleungdo; In summer, the warm and wet advection accompanied by the southwest wind flows above the cold sea level, causing frequent sea fog.
Heuksando; Advection fog occurs frequently in the summer due to the hot and humid southwest wind.
Jeju; In summer, warm and humid southern wind flows in, and sea fog is created as the sea surface temperature is lower than normal in the west and south seas. The fog travels to Jeju Island with the wind, and a thick fog appears.
West Sea, East Sea, Jeju; In the sea area, fog is concentrated in the summer when warm wind blows. The warm wind passes over the cold sea level, creating advection fog.
